No More Broken Promises
Governor Schwarzenegger's broken promises are adding up and his popularity is shrinking.

He promised to balance the budget, to "clean up" Sacramento, and preserve our children's education. But he has broken each of these promises and hopes to cover up his shortcomings with more corporate money and another special election -- a special election without verifiable paper audit.

Together, we have the power to hold him accountable. Sign this pledge to spread the truth about his administration of smoke and mirrors:

Arnold seems to prefer fundraisers and pep rally's to fulfilling his promises, and 2005 is no different.

Arnold left the promise of a balanced budget on the campaign trail by choosing to slash vital public programs and leaving corporate loopholes wide open for big business. Now, to "save money," he plans to dismantle the state pension program with a proposition that would eliminate retirement security for millions of Californians and eliminate benefits for the families of fallen firefighters and police officers. It's time to ask Arnold to balance the budget for real:

Arnold's campaign boasted plans to "clean house" in Sacramento, but he raises millions of dollars from out-of-state corporate donors. Despite millions of dollars in special interest money, he could not beat a single Democrat in 2004. Now he is following Tom Delay's example of redistricting and using special interest cash to pay for his campaign to change the rules of California politics. It is time to ask Arnold to clean up his own campaign:

In 2003, Arnold pledged to avoid any cutbacks for our classrooms. Instead of honoring his promise, he cut educational funding by over $2 billion. Now he is attacking teachers and threatening their jobs, because they simply asked him to keep his promise. It is time to ask Arnold to restore the funding to our schools:

Arnold has called for this special election -- one without a voter-verified paper trail -- to distract the voters from his deflating leadership and to blame working families across California of his shortcomings.

We have the power to stop him.

Together, we can hold Governor Schwarzenegger accountable by standing against his distractions and asking fellow Californians to do the same.

Sincerely,

Tom Hughes
