What does Liberalism mean?
submitted by
on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 11:12am PSTThe opinions expressed in this blog entry, and in my blog, are MY opinions, and MY opinions only, and not necessarily the opinions of this group, or anyone else on the face of this earth.
________ Since DLC types in this county of Sacramento seem to be afraid of being labeled anything other than a centrist, which now means a watered down version of Republican, I thought you might like to know what the classic definition of Liberal is, not as in "Libroool" of Rush Limbaugh's version. In his book from "Luther to Hitler" in 1941, Professor William M. McGovern, of Harvard University defines Liberalism as follows: Liberalism - In its essence, true Liberalism is associated with neither progressivism, nor conservatism. When the existing regime is dominated by autocracy or despotism the followers of Liberalism are ardent reformers and demand rapid and widespread political changes. When, on the other hand, a country has a free and Democratic government, and this government seems threatened by a drift towards autocracy and despotism, the true Liberal is a conservative, resisting all efforts to overthrow the existing regime. _______ Coming soon - very soon. "Pandora's Box has been Opened" Or, How the DLC types have opened themselves to my critisism and you should not blame anyone but me, for your "Odio et Atia" (that's latin) (figure it out DLC) |
