Please show up to City Hall today (September 15th) and urge the Council to vote NO on using public resources to fix legal flaws with the strong mayor initiative. City Hall is located at 915 I Street and the meeting starts at 6pm. This item is expected to be heard within the first hour.

The City Attorney recently identified a number of legal issues in the Strong Mayor initiative. As a result, she has advised the proponents of this measure to fix those legal flaws in order to avoid any confusion about whether the initiative is constitutional.

This initiative is being funded with private money. Therefore, any bandaid measure needed to fix the legal issues should be paid for with private money. Nonetheless, the proponents of this measure want the public to foot the bill for fixing their mistakes.

In Pursuit of Peace
In Pursuit of Peace

Come listen to what everyday people are doing to return peace to the Holy Land. Having returned from Israel, the West Bank & Gaza, Mary Wind, of the non-profit Teach Peace Foundation, will share what she saw and heard: from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem (both Old and New), from South Hebron to Bethlehem and from Nablus, to Cairo and Gaza. Wind spoke to and traveled with many people-– some working from within Israel, others from behind the walls of the West Bank and Gaza, and still others from the US ---all with the common goal of pursuing a peace. Hear what people from all age groups are doing to witness truths, reconcile wrongs, and bring creativity and love to light. Learn how, in spite of repeated frustrations and fear, they daily work towards mutual respect and a lasting peace. And discover specific actions you can take to experience the joy of sharing in this peace.

Wind's presentation will take place on Tuesday, September 15th, 7:00 p.m., at the Social Hall of the Methodist Church, 1620 Anderson Road in Davis. For more information, please call 530-204-7227.
