When the FBI Knocks: Representing clients in National Security Interviews

Since September 11, 2001, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies have conducted thousands of interviews of Muslim and Middle Eastern community members, as well as political activists of various backrounds. Many of these interviews are happening in the Sacramento area and the Central Valley. Individuals have been questioned on their religious practices, political beliefs, friends and family members, and imigration status. This legal training aims to guide attorneys on how to represent individuals called in for questioning.

Volunteer to Get Out the Vote! - from Howard Dean
http://petition.democracyforamerica.com/page/s/gotv

Two years ago, Republicans spent millions of dollars on their Get Out The Vote operations and won tight victories in several close U.S. House races. We're not going to let them do it again this year! Democracy for America volunteers across the country are committing to take time off work to help get out the vote. Can you commit to taking a day off for Democracy to help Democrats win? In many tight races, just a small committment could make the difference.

Saturday 25 September 2004

Dear Friends,

Tomorrow I begin a little 20-state, 60-city tour to try and convince the fed-up, the burned-out, and the Nader-impaired to leave the house for just a half-hour on November 2nd and mark an "X" in a box (or punch a chad or touch a screen) so that America and the world can be saved. (I don't mean "saved" as in all workers will henceforth control the means of production. That's, um, going to take a few more years.)

Voter Registration at the SAMMIES (Crest Theatre)
Update: Sacramento News & Review will allow us to have a voter reg table INSIDE the Crest Theater tonight for the Sacramento Area Music Awards (SAMMIES) show!

However, we need more volunteers. There are only three of us signed up to volunteer tonight, and we do hope and expect to register a large number of currently unregistered voters. Do you have an hour? Thirty minutes? Anything you can do to be there tonight would be a huge help. This is another great outreach opportunity--please try to be there!

We will have a voter registration table at the SAMMIES (Sacramento Area Music Awards). We will be at the Crest Theatre (1013 K Street) on Wed. July 14th from 6:15 - 8:15 PM. Please email Amy at danamy3@comcast.net so that she can schedule our volunteers.

Thanks as always for your support.

Voter Registration at Fahrenheit 911
Our Voter Registration effort this past weekend in front of the Tower Theatre was a success to say the least. In addition to the 150 or so voter registration forms we handed out (to strictly F911 viewers), another nearly 100 registered to vote on the spot! All that, just for the intermission time between 3 showings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm sure I speak for everyone else that was there when I say that I can't ever recall a time when people expressed such an outpouring of desire to do something, all at the same time. Who would have ever thought we would have the day when a voter registration form was a most desired item? Those that didn't sign up on the spot grabbed them out of our hands as they came out of the doors into the parking lot. I'm sure I can safely say that we will never forget the experience.
