Environment California : Build Support for Solar this Earth Day
Dear Environment California supporter,

Last week, more than 4000 of you urged your senator to co-author the Million Solar Roofs bill, SB 1. This action will help us next week when this landmark solar power bill comes up for its first vote. Thanks to all who took action.

This week, what better way to celebrate Earth Day, April 22nd, than to help build community support for solar power? If you are the owner of a business, a PTA member, neighborhood association representative, active in your church, or part of any other group, please take the time to ask them to support SB 1 by signing on to the letter below.

So far, more than 30 groups and businesses support SB 1 (scroll down to see the list of supporters). With your help, we'd like to expand that list and demonstrate the broad support for solar energy among Californians. Please ask your friends and family to pitch in as well by forwarding this e-mail to them.

LETTER OF SUPPORT

RE: Support for SB 1 (Murray/Campbell)
Dear Legislator:

We are writing to express our strong support for the Million Solar Roofs bill, SB 1. This bi-partisan bill will help bring California true energy independence, reduce air pollution and make solar power affordable for all Californians. It deserves your support.

California is overly reliant on oil for the bulk of its energy needs causing air pollution, rising energy costs and threatening increased drilling in sensitive areas such as the California coast. Fortunately, California can begin to address this problem by turning its abundant sunshine into pollution- free electricity. What's also exciting about SB 1 is that by growing California's solar market from 75 MW to 3000 MW over ten years, SB 1 will make solar panels affordable for all.

In sum, SB 1 will bring us greater energy independence, cleaner air, and affordable solar power for all to enjoy. We urge your support of this bill.

Sincerely,
