As Obama Administration Negotiates Away Democratic Party Principles - Time for a 2012 Primary Challenge?

Progressive Caucus of the CA Democratic Party

We've had enough. The country has had enough.

As elated as we were when President Obama was elected in 2008, after a disastrous eight years under the repressive and war-mongering Bush Administration, the Obama Administration has been a major disappointment to the working class and Progressives of this country.

So much so that on July 30, the Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party adopted a resolution criticizing President Obama for negotiating away Democratic Party principles to extremist Republicans, and suggesting that we may explore steps to "effect necessary change, including a possible primary challenge to President Obama." The resolution, overwhelmingly adopted at a meeting of the Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party July 30, did not say President Obama would not be that candidate.

The officers and members of the caucus are willing to meet with the President if he wishes to discuss our concerns. In fact, we would welcome the opportunity. Our Caucus leadership wishes HOPE BEYOND HOPE that President Obama will rework his priorities to respond to the needs of working class Americans in order to get progressive support in 2012.

Employee Free Choice Act - Rally at the Capitol!!

SUPPORT THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT!!

On Tuesday, March 17th, "THE" Employee Free Choice Act rally will be held. It will take place on the State Capitol's North Steps at 12 noon. A light lunch will be provided to attendees.

This state-wide rally is being held in connection to the California Labor Federation's and State Building and Construction Trades Council’s Joint Legislative Conference and numerous allies of working families from throughout the state will be in attendance.

It is critical we have a great turn out and show California that the Sacramento region is dedicated to building an economy that works for all.

Please bring your co-workers, family, friends, etc.

* Please contact Zak Ford of the Sacramento Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, for more information: zak@sacramentolabor.org or 916-927-9772.

------------------------------

The Employee Free Choice Act will:

• Put real teeth in the laws that are supposed to bar companies from intimidating, harassing—even firing—workers who want to form unions.
• Allow workers to form their union when a majority signs cards indicating that’s what they desire.
• Require arbitration to end corporate foot-dragging when workers try to get a first contract.

Scary Movie - The Horror of the Employee Free Choice Act (Not!)

Our country is on the verge of "armageddon," "nuclear war," and "the demise of a civilization." According to CEOs and their front groups, the fabric of our nation may well fall apart, all because of the Employee Free Choice Act.

In reality, the Employee Free Choice Act is a bipartisan, common sense economic recovery for working families that will pump billions into our nation's economy.

Protest Union-Busting Rite Aid TODAY

Are your pills paying for union-busters?

Join us on Friday, Feb. 13 to tell Rite Aid:
Respect our rights.
Stop union busting.
Sign a fair agreement.
An Injury to One is an Injury to All.

WEST SACRAMENTO – 12 noon, Rite Aid, 1260 W. Capitol Avenue
(Safeway Shopping Center at Jefferson)

Companies aren’t supposed to attack workers who want a union, but Rite Aid and other employers are doing it every day.

When 650 workers at Rite Aid’s distribution center in Lancaster, CA, wanted to join a union, the company threatened and fired them. After workers went ahead and voted to join the ILWU last March, Rite Aid continued the attacks. Now the company is refusing to sign a first contract.
