Response to July 16, 2010 E-mail from NJ Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Which Lacked Truth, Integrity, or Merit

Dear Sen. Frank Lautenberg,

In response to your July 16, 2010 e-mail, I found your response completely lacking in any truth, without an ounce of integrity, and completely lacking any merit. It’s clear the United States (U.S.) isn’t your first country of loyalty, it is clearly Israel. From your e-mail, “The Israeli Navy intercepted these ships [Mavi Marmara flotilla] before they reached Gaza and were attacked by a small group of individuals on the lead ship.” The truth, the ships were illegally intercepted by the Israeli Navy in international seas. Second, the Israeli Navy attacked and murdered peaceful activists on the lead ship. In addition, the U.S. congress is the best government money can buy. The U.S. congress is beset by bribery, baksheesh, and wanton immoral greed. The Israelis and their fifth column within the U.S., American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), have corrupted our congress. Congress is scared to death of the Israeli lobby. It has been bribed to follow the Israeli Likud Party line, U.S. Middle-east policy is set by Israel.

Critical Arab-US Moment Betrayed: Obama & Cong. Won’t Do Right Thing Re Jewish Settlements; Fear 2012 AIPAC Election Punishment

So, let’s get this straight. The United States officially -- at least rhetorically -- disapproves of illegal Jewish settlement expansion. Yet to do ANYTHING to support this position would mean substantial political blowback from AIPAC.

We all know to what degree the President and Congress will sell out the welfare of human beings, its own citizens, and, hell, the rest of the world’s, to protect their own jobs and power no matter what the depth of the sell out.

Even with the incredible wave of Arab individualism flooding forth now you would think the American President and Congress would be astute and responsible enough to give a reach out. I mean Cash for Clunkers and a hypocritical Cairo speech were Obama’s golden moments. That speech, in spite of its hypocrisy, probably planted some seeds of empowering hope and may even be in part responsible for the profound Arab movement right now.

WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY for the United States to endorse the spirit of democracy, even though democracy has left the building in terms of the United States, now run by a plutocracy, but still, the Arab world is fighting for the real deal democracy it assumes America still has.

What a shame that according to MJ Rosenberg the US intends to veto Thursday, today, a United Nations Security Council resolution, sponsored by 122 nations, condemning Israeli settlement expansion.

Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg told the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee: "We have made very clear that we do not think the Security Council is the right place to engage on these issues."

The UN Security Council is not the right place? What bullshit.

There Are a Lot of Cockroaches in New York, Now We Have Proof, New YorkâÃÂ

They Tell Me There Are a Lot of Cockroaches in New York, Now We Have Proof, New York’s Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Senator Charles E. Schumer Proud Members of the Plutocracy
by Andrew H. Dral

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg of New York showed his support for Israel during the 23 days, January 3, 2009 – January 26, 2009, of hell on earth for Palestinian civilians in Gaza by flying to Israel, on January 5, 2009. The mayor uplifted the citizens in the southern Israeli towns of Sderot and Ashkelon with his presence of solidarity. His trip was a pure propaganda play for the consumption of New York’s rabid supporters of Israel.

Senator Charles E. Schumer gave a speech on Saturday, January 10, in front of the Israeli embassy in New York, during the Israeli onslaught. He praised the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for texting messages to Palestinian families before blowing up their homes, “what country does that, what country,” exclaimed the Senator. Mayor Bloomberg and Senator Schumer display the lowest form of unethical and immoral parasitic behavior. They are a disgrace to the state of New York, our country, and all of humanity. They support and are loyal to an international outlaw state, the fanatical theocratic state of Israel. Israel was not provoked, it attacked Gaza for no other reason other than to exert collective punishment on a people – to teach them a lesson – a war crime.

Reporting from the Israeli Embassy in NYC - A Message for the Voice of Fargo: Ed Schultz

A Letter Sent to Talk Show Ed Schultz in Regards to the Israeli Massacre in Gaza
Andrew H. Dral

Dear Ed and Wendy,

I really don't like listening to you when it comes to Israel. You don't have a good grasp of the propaganda and massive media bias towards the situation there.

I attended a demonstration against Israel the other day, Tuesday evening, December 30, 2008, in New York City, in front of the Israeli Embassy. There were many energetic pro-Palestinian demonstrators there, way out-numbering the pro-Israel faction. News reports estimate 600 pro-Palestinian demonstrators, those wanting peace and justice, compared to 200 pro-Israel demonstrators wanting more death, destruction, and further Middle East injustice.

The destruction, the massacre unleashed by the Israelis against the Palestinians is so one sided, it boggles the mind. Roughly, 400 Palestinians are reported dead, many of them civilians (estimates over 60), compared to four Israelis. How can Americans sleep knowing children are getting their legs and heads blown off with our weapons at the hands of the Israeli butchers?

Jimmy Carter Conspicuously Absent From Podium

Jimmy Carter Conspicuously Absent From Podium
By Brett Lieberman and Nathan Guttman - Thu. Aug 28, 2008
Forward - The Jewish Daily

Denver — Former president Jimmy Carter’s controversial views on Israel cost him a place on the podium at the Democratic Party convention in late August, senior Democratic operatives acknowledged to the Forward.

Breaking with the tradition of giving speech time to living former presidents, convention organizers honored Carter with only a short video clip highlighting his work with Hurricane Katrina victims and a brief walk across the Pepsi Center stage.

The sidelining of Carter was driven by recognition in the Obama camp and among Democratic leaders that giving the former president a prominent convention spot might alienate Jewish voters.

“What more could we do to diss Jimmy Carter?” said a Democratic official who was involved in deliberations on how to handle the former president’s presence at the convention. The treatment Carter received, the official added, “reflects the bare minimum that could be done for a former president.”

NJ's Free Trading, Outsourcing, Warmongering, and Israeli Go To Guy, Senator Frank Lautenberg vs. Challenger Rep. Rob Andrews

New Jersey’s Free Trading, Outsourcing, Warmongering, and Go To Guy for Israel, Senator Frank Lautenberg Faces Senate Challenger Rep. Rob Andrews
Andrew H. Dral

When the decision is to help the middle class by keeping jobs in America or to help corporate America reduce domestic expenses, you can count on New Jersey’s (NJ) Senator Frank Lautenberg to side with corporate interests. Senator Lautenberg voted for the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 – S1637. A tax giveaway to corporations, lowering the corporate tax rate on repatriated funds to 5.25% from 35%. Corporations have received a free ride on taxes, in 1995 corporations paid $157 billion (B) in taxes, compared to $132B in 2003 corporate taxes paid. In his annual report, Warren Buffett said corporate taxes are at their lowest level, since 1934, at 7.4% of all federal tax receipts, down from 32% of tax receipts in 1952.

This bill, the Jobs Creation Act, should have been called the CEO Bonus Earnings Act or Mergers and Acquisitions Funding Act. This extraordinary gain on 2005 earnings helped CEOs across the nation make their bonus targets. In addition, a good portion of the funds from the roughly $500B repatriated pretax profits or $149B in tax savings would go to destroy jobs through Wall Street driven mergers and acquisitions, so through this bill Mr. Lautenberg exacerbated NJ’s job losses. Corporations are now incentivized to wait for the next repatriation tax holiday.

Over the past twelve months ending in March 2008 overall workers‘ wages rose 3.1%, while inflation rose 4%. Wages for working people have gone no where since the 1990s, rising only 32%, barely keeping pace with inflation, while chief executive officer (CEO) pay rose 535% over the same period. In 2006 CEO pay averaged 364 times the average workers‘ pay, down from 525 times in 2000, a record year, compared to 42 times in 1980 and 25 times in 1960.

New Jerseyââ‚ÂÂÃâ

New Jersey’s Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez Vote with Republicans Embracing HR 1585 76 – 22, the Project for a New American Century (PNACers), the Wishes of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Dick Cheyney’s War Crimes, & the Death and Destruction of Iranian Women and Children
by Andrew H. Dral

New Jersey’s two Senators -- Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez -- threw their support behind the Republicans and their Neocon resolution HR 1585, calling for “the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of U.S. power“ against Iran. With this vote our Senators embraced the colonial policies detailed in the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) furthering the Neocon agenda, the wishes of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and its goal for Israel to gain military and economic hegemony over the Middle East. The Senators sold out their constituents‘ wishes for diplomacy, in exchange for the narrow aims of the Israeli Likud and Dick Cheyney’s radical policies of death and destruction.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Visits New York, while New Yorkers‘ Show him Undemocratic Intolerance and Censorship
by Andrew H. Dral

I find the rhetoric coming from New York concerning the visit from Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad very disturbing. Mayor Bloomberg forbids him to visit ground zero and give his condolences by laying a wreath. Representative Anthony D. Weiner, State Assemblyman Sheldon Silver, and Concilwoman Christine C. Quinn weigh-in to censor the president, doing their utmost to make sure he doesn’t speak at Columbia University. The newspapers vilianize him, one rag put a red circular not sign on Ahmadinejad‘s front page image. New Yorkers believe he’s connected to 9/11. The Israeli Likudniks are rabid in their indignation against him. Yes, Mr. Ahmadinejad offends, yes his views are controversial, so why not expose his fraudulent arguments and inconsistencies for public consumption, let the people decide from an open debate. Are the Israeli Likudniks afraid he might say some fact or truth that offends their nation of first loyalty?

Yes, indeed, they are afraid of the truth. Mr. Ahmadinejad put it eloquently, “it (Israel) is based on ethnic discrimination, occupation and usurpation and it consistently threatens its neighbors.“ There can be no denial or argument against his quote.

The fact is Iran had nothing to do with 9/11, neither did Iraq. Iran is not trying to expand its borders by attacking its neighbors or building settlements on its neighbors‘ land. Iran does not occupy any of its neighbors. Iran doesn’t have over 200 nuclear weapons. Iran hasn’t orchestrated atrocities like the Jenine refugee camp in the West Bank or Sabra and Shatila in Lebanon. Iran hasn’t built an Apartheid Wall to keep its neighbors out or stop Palestinian children from attending school or stop farmers from accessing their land or stop the locals from getting to medical care at hospitals or clinics. Iran doesn’t imprison its neighbors and torture them or practice collective punishment. Iran doesn’t flaunt international treaties on torture and the Geneva Conventions. Iran hasn’t snubbed its nose at the international community by breaking over 60 U.N. resolutions, particularly U.N. Resolution 242 to return to its pre-1967 borders. Iran hasn’t started an unprovoked war nor has it decimated the infrastructure of one of its neighbors.

Pro-Israeli lobby is silencing dissent: By George Bisharat

Pro-Israeli lobby is silencing dissent

One day in 1981, my late father, Maurice Hanna Bisharat, returned from a long day at his Sacramento medical office with an extra bounce in his step, his eyes dancing with excitement. His friend, Michael Himovitz, the young owner of a local art gallery, had called, offering to hold a one-person show of my father's paintings -- mostly California landscapes. My father had taken up painting after immigrating to this country from Palestine in the late 1940s, and although an amateur, had won a national art award after two years. But the demands of medical practice, raising a large family and other avocations took their toll. It had been many years since my father's art had been publicly exhibited, and he was tickled.

My father was not a politician, but like any Palestinian living in the United States, he felt obligated to relate his people's experience to American friends. Educated and articulate, he spoke publicly in defense of Palestinian rights, and was a frequent commentator on Middle East events in the local media. Michael, a Jew, was perfectly aware of this side of my father's life. It did nothing to diminish his appreciation of my father's art, or to inhibit their friendship.
